Proposed design by James B. Longacre. The coin is .999 fine gold weighing 1oz. The obverse depicts a slightly smaller portrait of Liberty facing left The inscription LIBERTY is on her headress as a normal $20 Double Eagle. 13 stars are arranged around the border seven left, six right.The reverse features a spread-wing eagle , similar to that of a normal $20 Double Eagle. Its motto on the scroll is the unfamiliar OUR TRUST IS IN GOD above the familiar eagle design. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the upper border and the denomination DOUBLE EAGLE at the lower border.

This privately issued piece was struck in 2007 using a proposed design for a pattern $20 Double Eagle attributed to James B. Longacre. Longacre was also the designer of the Flying Eagle Cent, Indian Head Cent, Two-Cent Piece, and Sheild Nickel, to name a few. This gold coin is 1 oz. .999 fine.
