The Albertville Olympics were the third Olympic Winter games held in France. To commemorate the event, the Government of France authorized the striking of ten gold and nine silver coins.

Obverse: A bobsleigh and a luge of the “Belle Epqoue”, the legend: “République Française”, and the artist’s name.

Reverse: The Olympic emblem of Albertville (The emblem is the flag of Savoy region in the shape of the Olympic flame, dancing above stripes representing the flag of France.), the legend: XVIes Jeux Olympiques d’Hiver, the year 1989 and 100 Francs.
